Phoenix Vega Biography | What It Is and How It Works

The alias

Phoenix Vega is an alias: the name I release songs and instrumental pieces under. It is not a band and not a character. It is a brand, so that everything that comes out under that name lives in one place, with its story and its credits, instead of scattered across folders.

What keeps coming back in what I write is family, the people who are no longer here, and time passing. Some titles say it on their own: "Madre", "Solo Quiero Que Lo Sepas, Papá", "Eterno En Mí". And there is a song in Valencian, "Nit a Gandia".

Behind the alias there is a composer who signs the symphonic and more elaborate works with his own name, on his own website. The link is at the foot of this page.

How it started

The first release came out on 18 May 2024: "Serenidad En Mí", an instrumental piece, on purpose. I did not want to tell anything yet, just leave a moment of calm for whoever needed it. Before that I had spent years composing things that never left the house: notebooks, demos and loose files.

It did not start with a plan. It started the day I decided to publish instead of keeping it. Two months later came "El Viaje Del Alma", ten pieces conceived as a single journey: the first record I dared to think of as a whole.

What there is

There are two kinds of things in the catalogue. Instrumental pieces to be heard calmly, which is where I started. And songs with lyrics, almost all in Spanish and some in Valencian, which came later: an album of ballads, "Pulso Infinito", and a series of single songs that go wherever they need to go. A pop song for my mother, a rock song to say enough, a short folk song about a moment when nothing happens, a nu-disco track for a summer night.

I do not compose with a style in mind. I compose what each story asks for, and the style shows afterwards.

How I work

Everything that carries the Phoenix Vega name is made at home: composing, recording, mixing, mastering and writing the scores. The lyrics too. There are real instruments and virtual ones, and each song's page has its credits, with what each person did.

I do not play live. What I do is compose, record and release: every work comes out registered, distributed to the platforms and with its story told here.

What comes next

I am going to record a good part of the catalogue again, song by song, starting with the instrumental pieces. Each one will go through the hands of sound engineers for mixing and mastering, and the orchestral pieces will have the instruments they call for.

I have no release calendar. Each song comes out when it is ready, and not before.

And I would like to do it with other people. If someone has a lyric or a voice that fits this, we can talk.
