About this release
This is my first rock song, blues-rock really, and it's no accident that it's this one. It's about drawing a line. About no longer settling for almost, for half-truths and part-time affection. About saying enough to being handed borrowed fire, which burns just the same but was never yours.
The story is simple and plenty of people know it. Someone who gives you half of everything, a door left ajar, always about to leave. And you holding on, swallowing your pride year after year so you don't have to watch them go. The song is the moment I stop waiting. Not because I've stopped loving them, but because I choose myself. If they won't break what they won't let go of, I'll break it, even if it hurts me later.
That's why it sounds different from the rest. It's the rawest thing I've put out: a rock pulse, a rougher base than my ballads, and the voice right up front, almost arguing. I didn't want it polished or pretty. I wanted it to sound like someone who has said this inside many times and today finally says it out loud.

It mattered to me not to sing it with bitterness or with a look-how-strong-I-am pose, because that's not what it is. It's about being tired, about years of swallowing it, and deciding one ordinary day that that's it. There's pain in the decision, not victory. I choose myself knowing it's going to cost me.
The ending is my favourite part. No slammed door, no big speech. Just someone gathering what's left of themselves and giving up the wait. Patching up the wound on my own, quietly.
