It is about wanting to reach someone who has closed up inside, who raises walls and takes refuge in the cold. It is not a song about rescuing anyone. The lyrics use big images, fire, walls that tremble, and I wanted the music to insist just the same: phrases that come back again and again and a pulse that presses a little harder with each turn, like someone repeating the same thing in other words to see if this time it gets through.
